WVUH West Virginia University Hospitals in Martinsburg seeks a Medical Assistant to provide clerical and clinical support in an outpatient clinic setting under supervision. You will assist providers, obtain specimens, and help with patient visits and test processing.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, completion of a Medical Assistant program (or equivalent), and Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of hire. Schedule is full-time and non-exempt.

Qualifikationen

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate of a Medical Assistant Program OR graduate of the Med Ed Program OR one year of clinical experience.
• Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire.
• State criminal background check and Federal (if applicable), as required for regulated areas.

Aufgaben

• Provide support to medical staff to assure patients’ needs are met and to assure efficient operation of outpatient unit.
• Assist providers when possible in completing requisitions or forms for patient examination or testing.
• Administer prescribed medication under supervision of attending provider.
• Perform qualitative and quantitative tests and examinations of specimens.
• Obtain and document patients’ specimens as ordered.
• Documents and reports test results to medical provider.
• After training and skills testing may perform assigned and/or all ordered POCT tests and maintain quality control testing and logs.
• Schedules additional ancillary testing as needed.
• Acts as chaperone during medical examinations.
• Ensure medical records and test results are available for visit, including those from referring physicians.
