Job summary

Tufts Medicine is seeking a Medical Assistant to support outpatient care at Winthrop Family Practice. The role emphasizes patient flow, phlebotomy readiness, wound/administration assistance, vital signs, and EMR documentation to maintain smooth operations and high-quality patient experience.

Requires HS diploma, MA certification, BLS, and 0–2 years of MA experience; bilingual and EHR experience preferred. Training provided; may cover satellite locations as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Medical Assistant National Certification Attestation required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or obtain within three months.
• 0–2 years Medical Assistant experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage patient flow to maximize efficiency of providers and exam rooms.
• Prepare medical records and obtain data from patient interview.
• Assist with exams and procedures and provide patient education where appropriate.
• Perform vital signs, document pain level, and review medications with patient.
• Perform Point of Care Testing (PCT) as ordered (urine dips, HCG, Strep A, HbA1c, glucose).
• Handle referrals and prior authorizations; assist with billing and charting.
