Job summary

American Family Care (AFC) is seeking a General Medical Assistant to provide patient care in an outpatient clinic setting under the direction of a licensed provider. You will obtain vitals, medical history, and prepare patients for exams, and assist with procedures.

Requirements include an Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent; AMT registration and AAMA certification are preferred. AFC offers a great small business environment, flexible scheduling, paid time off, health and dental insurance,

Qualifications

• Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school. AMT registered and AAMA Certified Medical Assistants are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Obtain patient vitals, medical history, and reason for visit, and prepare the patient for a physical exam
• Explain prescribed procedures and treatments to patients
• Ensure all ordered tests are performed accurately and in a timely manner
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with the approved procedure
• Draw blood and prepare labs for reference lab processing and/or in-house processing
• Perform laboratory tests, lab-quality controls, and equipment maintenance according to written instructions
• Respond to all lab messages and callback requests
• Perform all drug screening procedures in accordance with established rules and regulations
• Ensure patient immunizations are well documented and administered in accordance with the approved procedure
• Conduct physician referrals as well as service pre-certifications on an as-needed basis
• Prepare exam rooms; sterilize instruments, equipment, and supplies for procedures
• Maintain complete and accurate documentation
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
