Job summary

Acadia Healthcare's Bellingham Comprehensive Treatment Center is seeking a Substance Use Counselor to support patients with opioid use disorder through individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, and case management. You will document treatment plans and progress, coordinate referrals, and work with a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• HS graduate or equivalent required.
• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in social or health services preferred.
• Degree from an accredited college or university.
• Experience in addiction recovery or behavioral health settings.
• Familiarity with MAT (methadone, buprenorphine, naltrexone).
• Experience in individual and group counseling.
• Knowledge of CBT, MI, relapse prevention techniques.
• Documentation of clinical notes, treatment plans, progress updates.

Responsibilities

• Provide high quality, compassionate guidance in individual and group counseling.
• Plan, oversee, facilitate and document patient recovery.
• Co-facilitate assigned group or family sessions as needed.
• Ensure all documentation regarding patient care is completed timely and clearly.
• Prepare individual treatment plans for each patient.
• Conduct initial and follow-up assessments.
• Evaluate patient needs and arrange referrals as needed.
• Plan for aftercare for assigned patients as applicable.
• Provide crisis intervention when needed.
• Perform case management to ensure individualized care.
• Act as liaison between referrals and patients.
