Job summary

Fitchburg Comprehensive Treatment Center is seeking a Substance Use Counselor to support patients with opioid use disorder in a MAT-focused program in Fitchburg, MA. The role emphasizes high quality, compassionate counseling in individual and group settings, with documentation and treatment planning to guide recovery.

Qualified applicants hold a Master’s degree or equivalent credentials (CAC/CAS/CADC/LICSW/LCSW/LMHC/LMFT or related), and have experience in addiction recovery, CBT/MI approaches,

Qualifications

• Master’s degree required or professional credentials listed.
• Bachelor’s degree holders may apply if pursuing required credentials within 30–60 days.
• Credential reimbursement available for licensing/certification exams for Bachelor’s-level candidates.

Responsibilities

• Provide high quality individual and group counseling.
• Plan, oversee, facilitate, and document patient recovery.
• Co-facilitate group or family sessions as needed.
• Ensure timely, clear documentation of care and incidents.
• Create individual treatment plans for each patient.
• Conduct initial and follow-up assessments.
• Evaluate needs and determine referrals to other programs.
• Plan for aftercare when appropriate.
• Provide crisis intervention as needed.
• Perform case management and liaison with referrals.
• Collaborate in a multidisciplinary team with medical staff and peers.
