Job summary

Acadia Healthcare’s Hillsborough Comprehensive Treatment Center in Hillsborough, NC is seeking a Substance Use Counselor to support patients with opioid use disorder through individual and group counseling and tailored treatment plans.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
• Prefer Bachelor's or Master's degree in social or health services field.
• Degree must be from an accredited college with practicum to be licensed.
• Experience in addiction recovery or behavioral health settings.
• Familiarity with MAT (methadone, buprenorphine, naltrexone).
• Experience conducting individual and group counseling.
• Knowledge of CBT, MI, and relapse prevention.

Responsibilities

• Provide high quality, compassionate individual and group counseling.
• Plan, oversee, facilitate and document patient recovery.
• Collaborate in multidisciplinary team with medical staff and case managers.
• Ensure timely and clear documentation of patient care and incidents.
• Prepare individual treatment plans and conduct initial and follow-up assessments.
• Evaluate patient needs and arrange referrals as needed.
• Support aftercare planning and crisis intervention as needed.
• Act as liaison between referrals and patients.
