Job summary

Hamlet Comprehensive Treatment Center in Hamlet, NC, part of Acadia Healthcare, seeks a Substance Use Counselor for its Outpatient MAT Opioid Treatment Program. The counselor delivers individual and group counseling and supports recovery through documented care, plans and crisis intervention as needed.

The role requires CADC-I, CADC, LCAS-A, LCAS, LCSW-A, LCSW, LCMHC-A, or LCMHC credentials; a high school diploma or GED; and experience in addiction recovery or behavioral health settings.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor's or Master’s in social or health services preferred.
• Practicum in accredited program for licensure.
• Experience in addiction recovery or behavioral health settings.
• Familiarity with MAT (methadone, buprenorphine, naltrexone).
• Experience with CBT, MI, relapse prevention.
• Documentation of clinical notes and treatment plans.
• Knowledge of state/federal regulations (42 CFR Part 2, HIPAA).

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality individual and group counseling.
• Plan, oversee, facilitate and document recovery.
• Co-facilitate group or family sessions as needed.
• Ensure timely, clear patient-care documentation.
• Prepare individualized treatment plans.
• Conduct initial and follow-up assessments.
• Refer to other programs when needed.
• Provide crisis intervention and case management.
• Act as liaison between referrals and patients.
