Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
• 2+ years of experience in a licensed NYS Clinical Laboratory.
• Proficient in data entry, specimen processing, computer use, and phlebotomy.
• Ability to maintain effective working relationships with patients and staff.
• Strong organizational and deadline-driven work habits.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient with MS Office; quick to learn new software.

Responsibilities

• Supervises daily outpatient laboratory services to achieve optimal patient flow.
• Prepares staffing schedules and work assignments for staff.
• Responds to client and patient issues promptly.
• Coordinates orders, supplies, and inventory for phlebotomy and couriers.
• Collaborates on quality assurance data collection and improvement opportunities.
• Develops orientation programs with the Clinical Lab Educator and coordinates continuing education.
• Ensures competency assessments for phlebotomy staff are completed.
• Maintains compliance with state/federal regulations and quality programs.
• Provides excellent customer service and reports on inquiries and performance.
• Trains staff on lab computer systems and phlebotomy procedures.
