Job summary

Responsibilities

  • Review hospital medical records for Ambulatory Surgery patients and assign diagnoses and procedure codes per ICD-10-CM and CPT guidelines.
  • Meet or exceed high quality and productivity standards to provide coding services.
  • Communicate and collaborate with outpatient coders and managers to address client needs.
  • Maintain active coding certifications and ongoing education.

What you’ll do:
  • Review hospital medical records for Ambulatory Surgery patients and assign relevant diagnoses and procedure codes as required, according to ICD-10-CM and CPT Official Coding Guidelines. Extensive knowledge of disease pathology as well as interpretation/understanding of detailed procedure note documentation is required for this position. Surgical specialties include Integumentary (grafts, lesion excision, debridement, plastics, breast procedures), Orthopedic (podiatry, fractures, joint replacements, scopes), Neurosurgery (spinal, nerves), General Surgery, Urology/Nephrology, OB/GYN, ENT, Mental Health, Pulmonary, and Cardiovascular (pacemakers, PCI, AV fistulas, CV access devices).
  • Meet or exceed high quality and productivity standards, to provide exceptional coding services to our clients
  • Communicate and collaborate with outpatient coders and managers to address the dynamic needs of our clients
  • Keep active coding certifications and complete continuing education to maintain expertise
