Job summary

Fresenius Medical Care seeks an entry-level Professional Registered Nurse for the Outpatient RN CAP 1 track within the Clinical Advancement Program (CAP). You will provide and coordinate care for an assigned patient group, including assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation, while mentoring with RNs, LVNs/LPNs and technicians.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
• Current appropriate state licensure.
• Current or successful CPR BLS Certification.
• Must meet the practice requirements in the state in which he or she is employed.

Responsibilities

• Performs essential functions under the direction of the Supervisor and with guidance from the Clinical Educator, Preceptor or in collaboration with other Registered Nurses.
• Collects and analyzes patient data during hemodialysis treatment and documents in the medical record; adjusts the treatment plan as indicated and notifies leaders as needed.
• Educates patients and family on basic learning needs; provides ongoing education.
• Delivers safe and effective hemodialysis therapy in collaboration with care staff.
• Administers medications as prescribed and documents justification and effectiveness.
• Initiates or assists with emergency response measures.
• Serves as a resource and participates in staff training and orientation for new staff.
• Ensures proper laboratory collection, processing and shipping procedures; reschedules labs as needed.
• Updates nursing assessment and care plan in collaboration with the Interdisciplinary Team.
• Discusses transplant and treatment modality options with patients.
• Must complete CAP requirements to advance.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
