Summary:

Fully remote working position.

Role Overview:

The Outpatient Coder II is responsible for accurately assigning ICD and CPT codes for diagnoses and procedures in outpatient medical records across various outpatient settings, including:

• Outpatient Hospital Clinics
• ASU
• OBSV
• Interventional radiology, cardiac cath, angiography records
• Provider Based Clinics (including E/M, professional procedures for inpatient and outpatient)
• IV therapy
• Emergency Department
• Other areas as needed

Additionally, performs record abstraction to ensure accuracy and completeness.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):

1. Education: Associate's Degree in a science field preferred, with completion of an accredited program through AHIMA or AAPC.
2. Certifications: RHIT, RHIA, CCS, CCA, CPC, CPC-H, or CIRCC required.
3. Experience: At least two years of multi-specialty, preferably surgical coding experience, including CPT/ICD and CM/HCPCS/modifier coding for physician professional charges, and a minimum of two years in an acute care facility as a Clinical Coder I. Demonstrates competency in all essential functions of an Outpatient Coder I role.
4. Additional Skills/Requirements: Experience coding E/M, outpatient hospital clinics, OBV, ASU, professional surgical CPTs, EDs, interventional radiology, cardiac cath/angiography, and simple visit coding.
5. Preferred Skills: N/A
