Job summary

BETH ISRAEL LAHEY HEALTH in Charlestown, MA seeks an Outpatient Coder to review records and assign ICD-10-CM, CPT/HCPCS, and modifiers for accurate APC determination.

You will work under the OP Coding Manager and Supervisor, ensuring coding quality and compliance while supporting education and audits. Requires 2+ years outpatient coding experience and AHIMA/AAPC credentials. Full-time, day shift.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of ICD-10-CM, CPT/HCPC outpatient coding experience.
• Associate degree in Health Information Management or coding certification.
• RHIA, RHIT, CCS or CPC/CCS-P certification is required or preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and EMR systems; familiarity with coding guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Review discharged patient records and assign ICD-10-CM, CPT/HCPC, and modifiers for APC assignment.
• Abstract coded data into the coding system and document key details.
• Apply official guidelines and participate in training and audits for accuracy.
• Communicate with providers and departments to improve coding quality.
