Job summary

Reid Health is seeking an On-site Coder-Outpatient to professionally code outpatient encounters at the Richmond and Connersville locations. You will perform ICD-10-CM/PCS and CPT-4 coding, abstract clinical data, and calculate APCs to support compliant reimbursement.

The role emphasizes up-to-date coding guidelines, timely data entry, and collaboration with providers and coding leadership. A CCS/CPC/RHIT/RHIA certification is required or pursued, and a high school diploma is essential.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED.
• Experience: 1 year same-day surgery/observation coding preferred.
• Licensure: CCS/CPC/RHIT/RHIA certification required.

Responsibilities

• Codes outpatient records using ICD-10-CM/PCS and CPT-4 classification systems.
• Abstracts relevant clinical and demographic information from the medical record.
• Calculates the APC assignment based on diagnoses and coding rules.
• Keeps coding guidelines and regulatory requirements current.
• Assists providers with diagnosis determination as needed.
• Works with Coding Manager/Supervisor/Director on questions and edits.
