Job summary

Renown Health is seeking an Associate Coding Specialist-Inpt to accurately assign ICD-9-CM/ICD-10-CM codes for outpatient encounters in accordance with CMS guidelines. The role supports hospital and ambulatory coding within HIM, focusing on ED, observation, and related services.

The candidate should have 1+ year outpatient or inpatient coding experience, an Associate’s Degree in Health Information Management, and CCA/CPC/CCS/RHIT certification.

Qualifications

• Must have working-level English: reading, writing, speaking.
• Associate’s Degree in Health Information Management preferred.
• 1+ year outpatient or inpatient coding experience required.
• CCA/CPC/CCS/RHIT certification required.

Responsibilities

• Assign ICD-9-CM/ICD-10-CM diagnostic codes from documentation and orders.
• Ensure coding accuracy to support revenue and reporting.
• Adhere to HIM policies and CMS Guidelines for Coding and Reporting.
• Collaborate with leadership and physicians for clarification when needed.
