Job summary

Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) Community Physicians is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to support outpatient care across our rural health network. The role involves interviewing patients, recording vital signs, preparing examination rooms, and assisting physicians under supervision.

Strong communication and basic computer skills are required. Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, completion of an accredited medical assisting program, and certification

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of an accredited medical assisting program with one year of patient care experience preferred.
• Certified through AMT or AAMA or NHA or MedCA as CCMA or CMA or NAHP.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers or Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.

Responsibilities

• Interviews patients, measures vital signs (pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, height), and records inputs to the medical record.
• Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients.
• Assist in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician.
• Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
