Job summary

The Burn Outpatient Nurse Coordinator at the NC Jaycee Burn Center within UNC Health provides specialized clinical coordination for burn patients throughout outpatient recovery, working with burn surgeons, APPs, and clinic staff to ensure seamless, high-quality, patient-centered care.

This onsite, day-shift role supports families navigating follow-up needs, coordinates imaging, referrals, and therapies, and contributes to clinic efficiency and patient education.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a state-accredited school of professional nursing.
• Five (5) years of professional nursing experience.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary clinical point of contact for new and returning outpatient burn patients and families, addressing care coordination needs and facilitating timely communication
• Coordinate outpatient burn clinic care, including visit planning, follow up coordination, and transitions from inpatient to outpatient care
• Collaborate closely with burn surgeons, advanced practice providers, nursing staff, therapists, and clinic support staff to ensure continuity of care
• Support clinic flow and operational efficiency through proactive coordination and problem solving
• Provide patient and caregiver education related to burn recovery, wound care, scar management, and long term follow up
• Coordinate referrals, imaging, therapy, and specialty services as needed to support comprehensive outpatient burn care
• Assist with documentation, tracking, and communication to support safe, efficient, and patient centered clinic operations
• Participate in clinic based quality improvement and patient experience initiatives
