Job summary

Alterra Mountain Company at Snowshoe Mountain in West Virginia seeks an experienced culinary leader to oversee kitchen operations and staff, ensuring quality and timely service. You will manage food provision, costs, and menu execution in a resort setting.

Ideal candidates have strong leadership, safety knowledge, and the ability to coordinate with hotel operations while mentoring staff during peak periods. On-site housing and extensive resort perks are provided.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• WV Food Handlers Certificate required.
• Proficient in knife handling and culinary equipment.
• Strong leadership and ability to manage staff under deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Oversee kitchen operations, quality, and administration
• Seek and respond to customer feedback promptly
• Ensure resources meet business needs
• Manage food provision and compliance with legislation
• Control costs, improve profit margins, and meet financial targets
• Keep team updated on menu items, promotions, and events
• Maintain good communication and relationships across the hotel
• Manage staffing levels to meet business demands
• Conduct monthly meetings and generate minutes
• Address staff performance issues per company policies
• Recruit, train, and develop kitchen staff
• Comply with safety, health, and food safety regulations
• Address maintenance, hygiene, and hazard issues promptly

Education:

• High School Diploma or GED

Preferred Experience:

• Two+ years of post-high school education, culinary education is desirable.

• Resort experience preferred.

• West Virginia Food Handlers Certificate required.

• Proficient in knife handling and use of culinary equipment (ovens, grills, broilers, sauté pans, fryers)

• Knowledgeable in safe food handling practices

• Experienced in food management principles and problem-solving

• Strong leadership skills to motivate and develop staff

• Capable of working effectively under time constraints and deadlines
