Job summary

County of Los Angeles seeks a Weed Hazard and Pest Abatement Worker to perform outdoor maintenance, pest inspection, and safe application of controls across diverse sites. You will drive various trucks, operate power tools, and document hours and activities in a fast-paced public sector environment.

Essential qualifications include one year of outdoor landscaping experience and a valid California driver license.

Qualifications

• One year outdoor work experience in landscaping or removing rubbish, weeds and brush.
• Must include a valid California Class C Driver License.
• Education documentation and certifications to be submitted with the application.

Responsibilities

• Cut and remove flammable grasses, weeds, brush and debris.
• Lift heavy loads of brush and debris using appropriate equipment.
• Operate hand tools and portable power equipment safely and correctly.
• Perform daily routine maintenance on power equipment and tools.
• Inspect buildings and grounds for pest infestations and document findings.
• Set traps and apply poisons under licensed supervision.
• Treat rodent burrows with fumigants under supervision of a licensed applicator.
• Maintain safety practices and follow CAL-OSHA and SDS guidelines.
