Job summary

County of Los Angeles Department of Agricultural Commissioner/Weights and Measures seeks qualified applicants for Pest Control Worker duties. The role involves setting traps, applying poisons for vertebrate pests, treating burrows, and destroying noxious weeds while following CAL-OSHA and SDS guidelines.

A valid QAC/QAL and California Class C license are required. Applicants must be willing to work various shifts and comply with all safety and environmental regulations.

Qualifications

• Six months of experience in the eradication and control of field rodents and noxious weeds.
• Requires a current and valid Qualified Applicator Certificate (QAC) and/or Qualified Applicator License (QAL) issued by the California Department of Pesticide Regulation.
• Requires a valid California Class C Driver License.

Responsibilities

• Leads, directs and participates in setting traps and the application of poisons for vertebrate pests.
• Leads, directs and participates in treating rodent burrows and coyote dens with toxic fumigants.
• Leads, directs and participates in the destruction of noxious weeds by mechanical removal or spraying with herbicides/pesticides.
• Observes and identifies common vertebrate pests and reports evidence of infestation.
• Transports and issues equipment, materials, and supplies.
