Job summary

The City of Millville is seeking a Temporary Laborer I in the Water Department for a six-month assignment. The role involves outdoor, hands-on work maintaining the water distribution system and grounds, with a focus on safety and reliability. You will assist with leaks, hydrants, and service line work while supporting the team in daily operations.

Applicants must be 18+, able to lift and carry, and work in varied weather conditions. A New Jersey driver's license is required, and a CDL is a plus.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older at time of hire.
• Capable of performing physically demanding tasks.
• Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather.
• Valid New Jersey driver’s license required; CDL is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist with repairs to water leaks and damaged lines.
• Support water service line replacements.
• Assist hydrant maintenance, testing and inspections.
• Install, maintain and repair water distribution equipment.
• Load, move, and transport tools, materials and equipment.
• Operate hand and power tools under supervision.
• Set up safe work zones around excavation sites.
• Perform lawn maintenance and restore grounds after repairs.
• Keep work areas and vehicles clean.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
