Job summary

City of Phenix City is seeking a full-time Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator to monitor, adjust and maintain the WWTP systems. You will interpret meter readings, perform routine maintenance, collect samples and run tests following ADEM guidelines.

The role requires at least 2 years of wastewater experience, a high school diploma or GED, and the ability to obtain an ADEM Grade III Wastewater Certification within 36 months of hire. Training and certification support are provided.

Qualifications

• Education and experience typical for wastewater operators, including high school diploma or GED.
• Able to read manuals, reports and technical documents with accuracy.
• Experience or training in laboratory testing and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Monitor control panels and meter readings to regulate water flow and maintain logs.
• Perform maintenance on pumps, generators and plant equipment as needed.
• Take water samples and conduct prescribed tests per program and regulatory guidelines.
• Prepare reports and records, supporting certification and audits.
• Assist with on-the-job training and certification preparation.
