Davey Tree Surgery Co. is hiring a utility tree trimmer to work outdoors on tree pruning and removal for utility providers. The role operates as part of a crew, uses chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts, and offers frequent outdoor variation with field-based teamwork.

The job emphasizes safety, proper tool handling, and adherence to industry pruning guidelines, with orientation and safety training provided on hire. CDL and state licenses are preferred for advancement.

Qualifications

• Love of the outdoors.
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Orientation Program upon hire.
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire.
• Required: valid driver’s license.
• Preferred: CDL-Class A or B with Airbrake Endorsement.
• Preferred: line clearance experience or other related tree work.
• Preferred: relevant pesticide licenses or certificates as required by state law.
• Preferred: ISA Certified Arborist®, ISA Certified Tree Worker®, and/or TCIA Certified Tree Care Safety Professional®.

Responsibilities

• Climb trees using DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS climbing systems.
• Perform pruning and removal services for major electric utilities.
• Prune treetops and remove damaged limbs, ensuring safety and quality.
• Remove broken limbs from utilities, roofs, and other objects.
• Identify trees and apply industry pruning guidelines.
• Maintain and operate tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts.
• Work as an active crew member with ground crew and foreperson.
