Job summary

The City of St. George is seeking a Recreation Aide to support community recreation services under the direction of the Recreation Supervisor/Coordinator.

This role focuses on running programs for ages 5-18+ and providing equipment, while assisting staff and answering public inquiries to ensure a positive participant experience. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, dependable, and able to work well in a team, with a strong commitment to customer service and safety.

Responsibilities

• Assist Sports Site Supervisors to run recreation programs for ages 5-18+.

• Organize, clean, and maintain recreation facilities and equipment.
• Support city programs and events as needed.
• Follow city policies and procedures.

Job description

Under the direction of the Recreation Supervisor/Coordinator, performs various tasks as necessary to provide recreation services to the St. George Community. Specifically responsible for running recreation programs for ages 5-18+. During programs, the Recreation Aide supports coworkers by providing equipment for programs. Assists the Sports Site Supervisors to provide instruction for the following programs: basketball, soccer, flag football, volleyball, rugby, fundamentals, and other sporting activities. 1. Assists theSports Site Supervisortothe essential needs of the programs.
2. Provides customer service in person; answering questions and/or referring customers to appropriate staff members.
3. Responds to public inquiries providing accurate information regarding recreation programs and services.
4. Organizes, cleans, prepares and maintains recreation facilities and equipment
5. Works at other City programs and special events as needed.
6. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing other related duties as needed
7. Follows all city policies and procedures

Typical Physical/Mental Demands/Working Conditions

Conditions and temperatures may vary depending on the assignment. Working indoors/outdoors sometimes in extreme hot/cold temperatures. At times moderately heavy physical activity exerting up to 25 pounds. Mental demands of intermittent exposure to stress as a result of human behavior.
