Job summary

City of St. George is seeking a Recreation Coordinator for Softball Programs. This part-time role will support softball leagues & tournaments and assist with special events in St.

George, Utah. You will oversee part-time staff, coordinate registrations, and provide excellent customer service to the community. The position requires a high school diploma, relevant recreation experience, and a valid Utah driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of one year experience in leagues, tournaments, and events for the City of St. George or a similar organization.
• Experience using Sportsman SQL or similar registration management software preferred.
• Customer service experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversees the work of other part-time employees and volunteers during assigned shifts or tasks.
• Assists in staff training, assignments, recruiting, and evaluation of staff.
• Provide customer service in person and over the phone; answering questions and/or referring customers to appropriate staff members.
• Responds to public inquiries providing accurate information regarding recreation programs and services.
• Assists the Recreation Supervisor with planning, developing, implementing and evaluating programs and helps to maintain relationships with program contractors.
• May be delegated tasks normally performed by FT employees.
• Aids in the promotion and advertising of programs and special events.
• Registers participants for programs, classes and activities.
• General office and clerical duties.
• Copies and prepares various brochures, flyers, schedules, rosters, etc. for distribution.
• Organizes, cleans, prepares and maintains recreation facilities and other work areas.
• Works programs and special events taking charge in part or whole of assigned programs, events, or facilities.
• Runs errands.
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing other related duties as needed.
• Follow all city policies and procedures.

Typical Physical/Mental Demands/Working Conditions

Conditions and temperatures may vary depending on the assignment. Requires the use of vision and/or hearing to identify and evaluate emergencies. Must be able to respond quickly and appropriately to emergencies. Requires moderately heavy physical activity exerting 25-50 pounds of force occasionally and/or 10-25 pounds of force frequently. Mental demands of intermittent exposure to stress as a result of human behavior.

Note:

Must be available to work weekends, evenings, holidays, and other schedules to help prepare for recreation offerings. This is a part-time position with variable hours averaging less than 28 hours per week over a period of twelve months.

Qualifications

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent. Preference given to those with education in recreation or a related field.

Experience:

• Minimum of one year experience working in leagues, tournaments, and events for the City of St. George, or a similar organization, showing adequate knowledge and skill in assigned tasks
• Minimum of one year experience using Sportsman SQL, or similar registration management software platform, showing adequate knowledge and skill in assigned tasks preferred
• Customer service experience preferred.

Licenses and/or Certifications:

• Must possess a valid driver license. A valid Utah Driver License must be obtained within 60 days of hire and be maintained throughout employment.
• CPR, First Aid, AED certification required. Must be obtained within 60 days of hire and maintained throughout employment.

Free access to all 4 city golf courses (Dixie Red Hills, Southgate, St. George Golf Club, and Sunbrook), swimming pools (City Pool and Sand Hollow Aquatic Center) and recreation center is available to all part-time employees.

Note: Golf course privileges are based on availability. Employees can book a tee-time within 24 hours or the same day, but may be turned away if there are no available tee-times. If you happen to be golfing with at least 2 paying customers; tee times can be set with more advance notice, but are still based on availability. Red Hills Golf Course will not be available to schedule tee times in advance --- walk on play based on availability only.
