Job summary

Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) is seeking a casual/seasonal worker to assist with the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the Ommelanden Hunter Education Training Center and public shooting range in New Castle County. Responsibilities include handling trap and skeet machines, ensuring range safety, and performing grounds upkeep.

The role requires experience with safe firearm handling and a willingness to work outdoors in all weather.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of firearms use, care and safety.
• Knowledge of general grounds maintenance functions and equipment.
• Knowledge of basic maintenance repairs.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license (not suspended, revoked, cancelled or disqualified from driving).

Responsibilities

• Responsible for firearms use, care and safety.
• Ensures the safety of range participants utilizing the rifle and pistol range.
• Operates and maintains trap and skeet machines.
• Demonstrates responsibility, dependability, and good communication skills.
• Assists in general grounds maintenance including trash removal, grass cutting, and minor building repairs such as painting.
