Qualifications

• Minimum of two years of experience working with children.
• Physically able to hike, carry gear, and lift/carry a small child up to 50 lbs.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate with staff and/or volunteers and work as part of a team.
• Current first aid and CPR credentials.
• Must pass background check and TB test before starting employment.
• Ideal candidate will have a deep respect for children and a demonstrated interest in positive teaching.
• Flexible mindset and positive attitude.

Responsibilities

• Assist lead teacher in hands-on, inquiry-based activities to spark children’s interest in and learning about the natural world.
• Respond to children’s discoveries and interests, encouraging critical thinking and further learning.
• Supervise outdoor exploration and play, ensuring safety while allowing reasonable risk-taking.
• Help develop outdoor skills such as shelter building, fire building, tool use, knots, and mapping.
