Classes meet outdoors in all kinds of weather.
The position is for 3.5 hours a week, on Wednesdays (Sept - Dec, Mar - May) from 9:45-1:15.
Primary Responsibilities:
Assist lead teacher in hands-on, inquiry-based activities to spark or deepen children's interest in and learning about the natural world.
Respond to children's discoveries and interests, and encourage their critical thinking, questions and further learning.
Supervise children's outdoor exploration and play, ensuring their safety while also allowing reasonable risk-taking.
Help to develop children's outdoor skills such as shelter and fire building, tool use, whittling, knots, mapping, etc.
Essential Experience & Education:
Minimum of two years of experience successfully working with children
Physically able to hike, carry gear, and lift/carry a small child if needed (up to 50 lbs)
Demonstrated ability to collaborate with staff and/or volunteers and work as part of a team
Current first aid and CPR credentials
Must pass background check and complete TB test before starting employment
