Job summary

Nisqually Red Wind Casino is seeking a Land Steward Crew Member to carry out stewardship activities across Nisqually lands. You will support land management plans on- and off-reservation properties, performing tasks such as invasive species removal, trail work, and native-plant maintenance.

The role requires teamwork, ability to follow safety rules, and physical work including lifting up to 50 lbs. Training on forestry, tool use, and species identification will be provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Ability to travel to Nisqually properties in Pierce and Thurston counties.
• Ability to work irregular hours including weekends and holidays.
• Must lift 50 lbs periodically during shifts.

Responsibilities

• Clear brush; monitor and remove invasive species.
• Maintain defensible space around structures in wildland urban interface.
• Maintain roads, build trails, and fire lines on Tribal lands.
• Install and maintain fencing and gates on Tribal properties.
• Install and maintain native plants/ornamental plantings.
• Remove litter and debris from Tribal lands and rights of way.
• Inspect vacant lands and other reservation lands.
• Work with forestry program on thinning, planting, and related activities.
• Report environmental code violations to Tribal staff.
• Collaborate with other Tribal crews on joint projects.
• Participate in safety and forestry-related training.
