Job summary

XKIG is seeking a Groundsperson in Salem, VA to support the crew by performing ground-based work, clearing brush and trees, and conducting site clean-up. A driver’s license is required, and travel for storm restoration may be necessary.

The role values physical endurance, safety compliance, and the ability to operate tools like chain saws and pruners. This full-time position offers health insurance, a 401K option, and PTO.

Qualifications

• Must possess physical strength and balance to drag heavy limbs and operate tools
• Must work outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Driver's license is required for driving position
• Able to pass background check and drug screen
• Must maintain PPE and safety practices

Responsibilities

• Always follow and enforce safe practices and rules.
• Keep work area clear of debris.
• Clear brush and trees from right-of-way using hand saws and other tools.
• Load and unload trucks with logs, brush, and debris; feed brush into chipper.
• Set up and break down road signs; flag traffic to protect workers and public.
• Drive truck or operate other equipment as assigned.
• Perform basic maintenance on trucks and equipment.
• Work for storm restoration as needed.
