Job summary

Doña Ana County is seeking a Grounds Maintenance Worker to care for county facilities, parks, and community spaces. The role includes mowing, landscaping, graffiti removal, restroom upkeep, and event prep.

You will assist with athletic fields, sprinkler systems, and minor repairs while following safety protocols. The position requires a high school diploma or GED, plus one year of experience in grounds maintenance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• One year full-time grounds maintenance experience.
• Must obtain Public Pesticide Applicator License in Category 3B within one year of hire.
• Valid unrestricted driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Perform all grounds maintenance tasks including mowing, weed control, landscaping, and edging.
• Monitor grounds, collect trash, and maintain restrooms; remove graffiti and clean facilities.
• Paint exteriors of buildings and clean areas; prepare sites for major events.
• Maintain athletic fields by repairing bleachers, backstops, fencing, and playground equipment.
• Install, maintain, and repair sprinkler systems; monitor water distribution and fix malfunctions.
• Troubleshoot and repair water lines and pumps; install drinking fountains.
• Perform carpentry, plumbing repairs, and basic welding; handle chemicals for grounds maintenance.
• Purchase parts and process work orders; minor repairs to motorized equipment.
• Attend periodic safety training to meet OSHA requirements.
• Use county purchase orders to procure hardware and consumables.
