Job summary

Bernalillo County is seeking a BernCo Clean Community Maintenance Worker to perform a variety of manual labor tasks maintaining road rights-of-way, medians, sidewalks, and associated infrastructure. Duties include landscaping, graffiti removal, painting, and minor surface repairs.

The position supports community beautification efforts and may assist other maintenance crews as needed. The role requires a high school diploma or GED, experience with landscape maintenance and painting, and the

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED.
Experience with general landscape maintenance and painting.
Experience operating power tools, hand tools, and landscaping equipment.
Knowledge of irrigation systems and drought-resistant landscaping.
Familiarity with low-voltage landscape systems, telemetry devices, and backflow preventers.
Traffic Control Technician certification preferred at time of hire.

Responsibilities

Assists with landscape maintenance tasks including mowing, trimming, planting, and irrigation repairs.
Supports pruning of trees, shrubs, and flower beds; assists with weeding and general care.
Performs basic surface maintenance and patching of concrete or plaster.
Sets up traffic control measures for roadwork.
Removes snow or ice from sidewalks as needed.
Operates groundskeeping and graffiti removal equipment.
Prepares surfaces for painting and applies coatings.
