Job summary

Maricopa County Flood Control District is seeking a General Maintenance Worker to perform outdoor maintenance on flood control structures and roadways in Arizona’s desert environment. You will engage in hands-on construction and maintenance work, supporting public safety and preserving community spaces throughout Maricopa County.

The role involves year‑round fieldwork, operating trucks and hand tools, and adhering to safety regulations.

Qualifications

• One year of general maintenance work experience.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Three or more years of general maintenance experience.
• Experience in the public sector is valued.
• Knowledge of landscape and roadway maintenance methods.
• Knowledge of traffic laws related to truck operations.
• First Aid knowledge is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform manual labor in building and maintaining roadways and Flood Control structures.
• Maintain landscaping and clear brush and debris.
• Operate trucks, equipment, and hand tools safely.
• Perform traffic control and report safety hazards.
• Load and unload materials and deliver to job sites.
