Job summary

Flood Control District of Maricopa County is hiring a Maintenance Specialist to work year-round outdoors in Arizona's desert environment, building and maintaining flood control structures that protect communities. Responsibilities include carpentry, electrical, irrigation and more, with truck/equipment operation and field supervision duties.

Two years of semi-skilled maintenance experience, a high school diploma or GED, and a valid Arizona CDL (with tanker endorsement) are required, plus Pest

Qualifications

• Two years of experience using a variety of semi-skilled repair and trades tasks.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Must possess a valid Arizona Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with tanker endorsement.
• Must obtain Pest Control Certification (Right of Way) within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Maintain Flood Control structures by performing carpentry, electrical, irrigation repair, installation, masonry, painting, pesticide application, plumbing, road repair, weed abatement, or welding work.
• Operate a variety of trucks, equipment, and hand tools in accordance with safety procedures.
• Assist the Field Supervisor in preparing daily activity, materials usage, and reports; order supplies as needed.
• Supervise maintenance crews in the absence of the Crew Leader or Field Supervisor.
