Job summary

Astound is seeking a Broadband Network Technician I for field-based work in Massachusetts. You will maintain and repair aerial and underground coax and fiber infrastructure, using bucket trucks, ladders and hand tools to restore service and support network reliability.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2+ years hands-on telecom field experience.
• Fiber testing and splicing expertise.
• Maintain satisfactory driving record and valid license.
• Customer service and communication skills.
• Basic computer literacy and aptitude to learn.

Responsibilities

• Detect, troubleshoot and resolve system outages in aerial and/or underground capacities related to transmission levels, signal losses and off-air interference.
• Prepare and perform emergency aerial and/or underground coaxial cable restoration due to variables such as cable breaks and/or damage.
• Perform preventative maintenance (power supply, actives) in the form of testing, balancing, alignment and adjustments of components or equipment.
• Monitor, record and repair cable leakage, complying with applicable regulations.
• Observe and assist co-workers with fiber splicing activities.
• Complete and distribute required documentation, such as work orders and daily logs.
• Install, replace, and repair coaxial and fiber optic cabling, including aerial and buried plant.
• Perform pole transfers, span replacements, and drop repairs.
• Operate bucket trucks, ladders, and field equipment.
• Participation in a 24/7 on-call rotation.
• Other duties as assigned.
