Job summary

The School Programs Intern position with the South Dakota Department of Game, Fish, & Parks in Sioux Falls supports education programming in outdoor skills such as fishing, camping, and hunting, and works on nature‑based conservation and South Dakota heritage programs for school groups from preschool to college.

Interns assist with programs developed by the program coordinator, develop and lead their own programs, and work at the information desk to meet programming and customer service needs.

Qualifications

• Must be a current part‑time or full‑time student during the internship period and have completed one year of the program by start.
• Preference given to South Dakota residents and students of South Dakota institutions.
• Must have enthusiasm and willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Lead and assist education programming in outdoor skills (fishing, camping, hunting) and nature‑based conservation for school groups.
• Develop and lead your own programs under supervision.
• Staff the information desk to meet programming and customer service needs.
• Enjoy working with people of all ages and spend time outdoors; participate in training provided.
