The Department of Game, Fish, & Parks in South Dakota offers a Fall Session School Programs Intern position based in Sioux Falls. You will lead and assist education programs in outdoor skills such as fishing, camping, and hunting, serving school groups from preschool to college and even teachers.
Experience is not required; all training is provided. Enrolled part-time or full-time students at a college or technical institute are eligible, with preference for South Dakota residents and students

This School Programs Intern position will include leading and assisting education programming in outdoor skills such as fishing, camping, and hunting, as well as nature-based conservation and South Dakota heritage programs. The position will primarily serve school groups, ranging from preschool to college students, and even in‑service teachers. Interns assist with programs developed and scheduled by the program coordinator, develop and lead their own programs, and work at the information desk to meet programming and customer service needs. Candidate must enjoy working with people of all ages and spending time outdoors. This is a fun, fast‑paced job that will give you valuable teaching experience in an informal setting. All training is provided.
Coursework in the following areas will aid in consideration: Education, Outdoor Education, Communication, Public Relations, Biology, Natural Resources Management or similar environmental education. Must have enthusiasm and willingness to learn!
Applicant must be enrolled as a part‑time or full‑time student at a college, university, or technical institute at the time of application. By the start of the internship, the student should have completed one year (nine months) of their chosen program. All students are encouraged to apply, but preference may be given to applicants with a standing of junior/senior, South Dakota residents, and students of South Dakota institutions.
