Job summary

Pali Institute Inc. in Running Springs, CA, is hiring for fall 2026 with August–September start dates. Instructors will lead outdoor education, science, and leadership sessions, manage cabins, and mentor 100+ staff while delivering a safe and engaging experience for youth.

Off-site housing included with utilities, meals, and other amenities. Growth opportunities include leadership roles and seasonal pay raises based on performance and tenure.

Qualifications

• College degree required or program experience equivalent.
• Prior camp counselor experience is a plus.
• Experience working with children (preferably grades 4-12).
• Ability to work in a team with 100+ staff and adapt to changes quickly.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the safety of children during outdoor education, science, and leadership classes.
• Co-teach and also lead in-cabin and field sessions according to plans.
• Spend 2–4 nights weekly in cabin with students.
• Manage cabin groups during downtime with activities and games.

• Total Compensation Package from $1030-$1075 a week

  • Base pay $475-$520 with additional $50 for each night spent in cabin.

  • These positions include a $30 pay raise.

Instructors Role at Pali:

• Safety of children while teaching outdoor education, science, and leadership classes.
• Both co-teaching and solo teaching off an accredited lesson plan.
• In-cabin overnight with up to 11 children 2-4 nights a week.
• Group management of cabin during down time including games of gaga ball, hikes, and tons of other camp games!

• College degree required or program experience equivalent
• Prior camp counselor experience is a plus
• Have prior experience working with children. (Preferably in grades 4th-12th.)
• Possess ability to work in a team environment with 100+ other staff.
• Be flexible and adjust to changes quickly.
• Have ability to handle concerns and issues in a constructive manner.
• Work as both cabin instructors and field instructors.
  • Typical week requires up to 4 overnights in cabin with students.
