Job summary

Piedmont Wildlife Center in Durham County is seeking a part-time Camp Coordinator to provide daily, on-the-ground support to camp counselors, CITs, and campers across all locations. You’ll help with staff, camper experience, and smooth day-to-day operations as a key support to Camp Program Managers.

This role suits someone who enjoys outdoor work, staying engaged with staff and campers to ensure safe, inclusive, and well-organized camp days.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children in a camp or educational setting (outdoor preferred).
• Experience with neurodivergent children is a plus.
• Ability to work outdoors for extended periods.
• Strong communication and positive attitude.
• Strong organizational skills and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily camp logistics and organization.
• Assist with check-in and check-out procedures.
• Support counselors and CITs during programming.
• Help maintain a safe and inclusive camp environment.
• Support camper needs, including behavior management.
• Communicate challenges and concerns to Camp Program Managers.
• Provide coverage and hands-on support throughout the day.
• Occasionally serve as on-site point person for school’s out camps.
• Keep records of camp supplies and order new supplies as needed.
• Maintain organization of camp supplies.
• Create camp-wide resources for supporting neurodivergent campers.
