Job summary

Piedmont Wildlife Center, based in Durham, NC, seeks a part-time Camp Coordinator to provide daily on-the-ground support to camp counselors, CITs, and campers at all camp locations. This role focuses on staff support, camper experience, and smooth, well-organized daily operations, serving as a key support person to the Camp Program Managers.

The role is ideal for someone who enjoys the outdoors and engaging with staff and campers to help camp day operations run smoothly.

Qualifications

• Experience with children in a camp or educational setting, outdoors preferred.
• Ability to work outdoors for extended periods.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Positive, flexible attitude and teamwork.
• Personal smartphone and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily camp logistics and organization.
• Assist with check-in and check-out procedures.
• Support counselors and CITs during programming.
• Maintain a safe and inclusive camp environment.
• Support camper needs, including behavior management.
• Communicate challenges and concerns to Camp Program Managers.
• Provide coverage and hands-on support as needed throughout the day.
• Occasionally serve as the on-site point person for various school’s out camps.
• Keep record of all camp supplies and order new supplies as needed.
• Maintain the organization of camp supplies.
• Create camp-wide resources for supporting neurodivergent campers.
