Job summary

Base is hiring a Test Engineer to push our batteries and inverters past their limits at our outdoor test site outside Austin, with some time in the office. You'll review designs, plan, build, and run tests required for certification.

This role emphasizes hands-on testing around lithium-ion batteries and high voltage, with data acquisition, DFMEA, and results shared with engineering and certification teams.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 1+ years designing and running tests on electrical equipment.
• Experience with lithium-ion batteries, high voltage, and DAQ systems.
• Comfort with hands-on, mostly outdoor work.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate designs for safety using DFMEA and similar tools.
• Design and run safety and abuse tests (thermal runaway, short circuit, voltage interruption).
• Own the safety of every test setup.
• Set up data acquisition: thermocouples, voltage/current, accelerometers.
• Run certification tests in-house or at external labs.
• Improve test throughput and test site quality.
• Write world-class test reports and share results with stakeholders.
