Job summary

Base is hiring an Engineering Technician to be the hands of our hardware team. You'll build, rework, test, and tear down Base hardware, from prototypes in the lab to units returned from the field.

You'll work side by side with design, test, and reliability engineers to get hardware ready for test, diagnose issues, and push fixes into production quickly. This role is on-site in Austin, TX with a startup pace.

Qualifications

• 2+ years hands-on technician experience in engineering/test environments.
• Board-level soldering and high-voltage safety experience required.
• Ability to document processes and results clearly.
• Experience with multimeters, power supplies, and standard lab tools.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and test prototypes, setups, and lab equipment.
• Solder/rework boards, build harnesses, and wire thermocouples.
• Prepare and test hardware, including high-voltage systems.
• Tear down field units, run diagnostics, identify root causes.
• Improve test fixtures and processes for faster analysis.
• Track materials, timelines, and results; flag quality issues.
• Maintain lab safety, cleanliness, and vendor coordination.
