Job summary

Simon & Schuster is seeking a Transportation Coordinator to support the Transportation Department at our Jackson, TN distribution center. The role handles outbound shipments, carrier coordination, and daily planning with Operations and carriers.

Key duties include arranging truckloads, monitoring orders, generating MS Access reports, and communicating with drivers and internal teams. Requires 2+ years in warehouse or transportation, strong MS Office skills, and the ability to work a 2nd shift

Qualifications

2+ years of experience in a Warehouse Operations or Transportation environment, or equivalent.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments independently.
Proficiency with MS Office products including Access and Excel.

Responsibilities

Review daily outbound volume to determine trucks, carriers and delivery appointments.
Ensure domestic and international outbound orders are processed with accurate paperwork.
Monitor, track and communicate status of orders and rush shipments.
Collaborate with Operations and carriers to execute daily plans and schedules.
Coordinate with LTL carriers to maximize trailer load factors per shipping schedules.
Review routed orders for potential carrier changes to improve efficiency.
Handle daily exception reporting from carriers and escalate as needed.
Extract data from WM/database for equipment and load planning.
Create and modify MS Access ad hoc reports for the team.
Communicate with carriers, dispatch, drivers and internal staff effectively.
Coordinate timely and accurate closing of all outbound orders in WM.
