Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight from equipment.
• Prepare, sweep, inspect and clean trailers before loading.
• Use safe lifting techniques for loading/unloading.
• Operate appropriate freight handling equipment (forklifts, hand carts, pallet jacks, etc.).
• Weigh and dimension shipments for classification and safe handling.
• Plan cube utilization and weight distribution during loading.
• Count and inspect freight and document shortages or damages.
• Review freight bills for special instructions and check manifests.
• Verify hazardous material descriptions and placarding when applicable.
• Block and brace freight to prevent shifting during transport.
