East Coast CES of South Carolina Inc. in Charleston, SC is hiring an Out Gate Clerk / Customer Service Rep to manage outbound gate processes, coordinate with drivers, and maintain clear communication with customers. The role focuses on ensuring cargo is released only after Customs holds are cleared, handling documentation, and resolving issues related to terminal delays.

Shifts are full-time with days. You will work closely with the dispatch team to set accurate expectations and support

• Experience in customer service for logistics or shipping.
• Ability to verify documents and process charges.
• Strong communication via phone and email.

Responsibilities

• Accept Safeway chassis returns from outside carriers.
• Communicate with customers about delivery orders and warehouse moves.
• Ensure cargo is not released before US Customs holds are cleared.
• Prepare and check charges before sending to customers.
• Coordinate with dispatch to manage delays and issues.
• Inform customers of expectations and respond to inquiries.
• Verify drivers' documents (license/registration).
• Check system for cargo release, charges paid, and freight release.
• Print, scan, and file out-gate paperwork; provide copies to drivers.
• Contact drivers about pickup issues.

Description

• Accepting Safeway chassis being returned by outside carries.
• Responsible for daily customer communication related to delivery orders and warehouse/Customs moves.
• Responsible to ensure no cargo is released prior to clearance of US Customs holds.
• Prepares and thoroughly checks charges to ensure they are free of error prior to sending to customers.
• Works directly with customer on obstacles that can arise due to terminal related delays and issues.
• Dictates customer expectations to members of the dispatch team. Respond to customer or US Customs inquiries via phone and email.
• Check documentation for drivers (license/registration/etc.)
• Check system to ensure cargo is released/charges paid/freight release present
• Double check/print Vilden release sheet
• Ensure trucking company is authorized to pick up chassis
• Process the out-gate systemically
• Print, scan, & file out-gate paperwork, provide copy to driver
• Calling/emailing for driver pickup issues

Salary $25 per hour
