Job summary

Covenant Logistics is seeking a Gate Clerk in Newport, TN to handle inbound and outbound loads and maintain yard security. The role may require rotating shifts to ensure smooth freight flow and accurate record-keeping across facilities.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma (or equivalent) and 2+ years in an administrative/customer service role, with familiarity in HighJump WMS preferred. Competitive benefits and full-time hours are offered.

Job description

The Gate Clerk is the first and last point of contact for inbound and outbound loads at a customer facility. This position may work a rotating shift.

Responsibilities

• Process Inbound and Outbound loads.
• Checking in and maintaining security with outside careers
• Performing yard audits as needed
• Keep accurate record of all inbound and outbound trailers.
• Check seals and numbers on all inbound and outbound trails.
• Security-adjacent tasks such as gate management and perimeter reporting
• Prioritize and process both Inbound and Outbound paperwork and BOLs (Bill of Lading)
• Assist in maintaining consistent flow of freight for timely outbound/inbound processing.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• The ability to work in a fast paced and always changing environment.
• Ability to Multitask, prioritize and manage time effectively.
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to compile and record data in an efficient and accurate manner
• Have knowledge of customer and company requirements regarding shipping and receiving

Education/Experience

• High school Diploma or Equivalent
• 2+ years’ experience in an administrative capacity preferred
• 2+ Years Customer Service Experience preferred.
• HighJump WMS experience is preferred but not required
• Transportation or warehouse experience preferred
• High school Diploma or Equivalent
