Job summary

The Simplot Company, a diverse global food and agriculture company based in Boise, Idaho, is seeking a skilled OTR Truck Driver to safely transport products in liquid, loose, or packaged form. Ideal candidates have a High School diploma or GED, a Class A CDL with endorsements, five years of OTR experience, valid DOT medical certification, and the ability to obtain Canada entry.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid Class A CDL with proper endorsements.
• Five years of verifiable over-the-road experience.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain entry eligibility into Canada.
• Must have a current/valid DOT Medical Certification.
• Reefer trailer experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Always maintains safety for driving and all duties.
• Full compliance with FMCSA/DOT regulations and company policies.
• Haul and handle products efficiently, including fuel and loading practices.
• Inspect truck for defects before and after trips; submit reports.
• Get schedule of load times and drive to destinations using regulations and skills.
• Back up and maneuver in tight areas when needed.
• Maintain driver logs according to DOT regulations.
• Regularly inspect truck equipment and supplies (tires, lights, brakes, fuel).
• Make truck/trailer available for scheduled maintenance.

Summary

The OTR Truck Driver will be responsible for safely transporting and delivering products or materials in liquid, loose, or packaged form, while abiding by all traffic laws. This position plays a key role in helping to fulfil the Simplot Company’s purpose of feeding the world.

Key Responsibilities

• Always maintains conscientiousness for safety, while driving as well as performing all other duties
• Full compliance with all FMCSA/DOT regulations and other Company policies and procedures as applicable
• Haul and handle products assigned while maintaining efficiency, such as fuel and best hauling and loading practices
• Inspects truck for defects before and after trips and submits report indicating truck condition
• Obtains schedule of load times and locations for the day and drives truck to destination applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations and skills
• Must be able to back up and maneuver in and around tight areas
• Maintains driver log according to DOTregulations
• Regularly inspects truck equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, fuel, oil, and water
• Makes truck and/or trailer available for scheduled maintenance

Typical Education

High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

• Must be at least 21 years of age due to travel requirements
• Must have a commercial driver’s license (Class A), with proper endorsements and a good driving record
• Must be able to obtain and maintain entry eligibility into Canada
• Five years of verifiable over-the-road experience.
• Must have a current/valid DOT Medical Certification
• Must meet DOTqualifications
• Must accurately and timely complete Company and DOT required forms
• Reefer trailer experience strongly preferred

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
