Job summary

Meridian Public Charter School in Washington, DC, seeks a Specialist of Out of School Time (OST) Programs to lead the before- and after-school programs and the summer camp. Approximately 300+ students participate in these programs during the school year and nearly 200 in the summer.

Specific onsite work hours vary by programmatic need but include supervision of before-care and after-school activities. The specialist reports to the Business Manager and collaborates with leaders to align with

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience working with school age youth (K-8) in a school or after-school setting.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and relationship building skills and ability to lead and work with diverse populations.
  • Passion for working with ALL students, particularly students with disabilities and English language learners.
  • Grant management and reporting experience.
  • Proficiency with Google Suite (Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms).
  • First Aid/CPR certified.
  • Spanish language ability desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of the before and after school program and summer program, including program design, curriculum, staffing, daily operation, including communication with families, and program quality.
  • Oversee all aspects of the grant, including grant reporting, documentation, and evaluation (if applicable).
  • Organize program logistics, such as registration, schedules, lesson plan collection, snack and space, supply requests, and other programmatic needs.
  • Maintain student participation and attendance throughout the year via recruitment and retention activities.
  • Maintain an inviting, safe, orderly environment, virtually and in-person.
  • Observe activities daily; review staff performance and provide guidance for improvement.
  • Monitor student behavior on site during program hours and apply appropriate discipline measures.
  • Acquire and manage program equipment, materials/supplies, and facilities.
  • Collaborate with Food Services to coordinate food distribution and track distributions.
  • Collaborate with school leadership to align program delivery with academic goals.
  • Develop and maintain site budget and grant compliance with COO and Business Manager.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with participants, parents, staff and administration.
  • Establish and maintain OSSE voucher program to ensure licensing.
