Job summary

Avacend Inc. seeks an OSP Inspector II responsible for ensuring underground, buried, and aerial plant facilities meet current standards. You will document inspections, audits, and pole transfers electronically and communicate via email and cell phone.

Occasional manual inspections with printed spreadsheets and GPS/mapPoint usage are required. The role requires experience with NESC standards, pole line inspections, strong communication, time management, and contractor coordination, plus a valid

Qualifications

• Experience performing NESC inspections or working on an aerial cable line crew.
• Experience with wooden pole ground line inspections.
• Familiar with OSP Construction Standards.
• Familiar with the National Electric Safety Code.
• Proficient with Microsoft Windows XP, Excel 2003+ and Outlook.
• Experience with mapping tools such as MapPoint 2009+ is preferred.
• Familiar with internet usage and web browsing.
• Strong communication skills.
• Good time management and organization skills.
• Construction contractor management skills.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel on short notice.

Responsibilities

• Inspect underground, buried and aerial plant facilities to ensure compliance with current standards.
• Document inspections, audits, and pole transfers electronically.
• Communicate via email and cellular phone; use printed spreadsheets for manual work when needed.
• Perform inspections, audits, and transfers manually using printed spreadsheets when required.
• Utilize mapping/GPS technology to support inspections and data collection.

Job description

The OSP Inspector II will be responsible to ensure that all the client's underground, buried and aerial plant facilities meet the current standards through inspections, and corrections work performed by contractors. The Inspector will document all inspections, audits, and pole transfers electronically, and be expected to communicate via email, and cellular phone. At times it may be necessary to perform inspections, audits, and transfers manually by the use of printed spreadsheets. Familiarity in using mapping/GPS technology.

Qualifications:

Previous experience performing NESC inspections or experience working on an aerial cable line crew

Previous experience performing wooden pole ground line inspections.

Must be proficient in OSP Construction Standards

Familiarity with the National Electric Safety Code.

Computer experience:

Microsoft Windows XP, Excel 2003 or newer and Outlook

Experience with mapping tools such as Microsoft MapPoint 2009 or newer is preferred, but not required.

Familiar and comfortable with internet usage, and web page browsing.

Good communication skills.

Personal time management and organization skills.

Construction contractor management skills.

A valid driver's license and the ability to travel on short notice.
