Job summary

Swoon is seeking a Field Construction Manager to oversee fiber optic construction projects across the assigned market. This leadership role focuses on contractor performance, quality control, coordination, budgets, and issue resolution through to project completion.

The position is highly field-oriented with minimal office time. You will travel across the territory, work with crews, suppliers, and engineers, and ensure safety and on-schedule delivery. A company vehicle is provided.

Qualifications

• 4+ years in telecommunications or fiber construction.
• Strong knowledge of OSP/fiber construction.
• Experience managing contractors, vendors, or field crews.
• Ability to travel throughout the assigned territory.
• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office/Excel.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day fiber construction activities in the field.
• Manage contractors and multiple construction crews.
• Perform quality control inspections and ensure deficiencies are corrected.
• Coordinate construction schedules, materials, and project priorities.
• Monitor project budgets, progress, and contractor performance.
• Work closely with engineering, project management, splicing, and field teams.
• Identify and resolve construction issues, including design and field conflicts.
• Ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and to quality standards.
• Provide project updates and elevate major issues when necessary.

The work will primarily involve last-mile fiber deployment, with some backbone construction.
