Job summary

International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO) is seeking a Construction Manager for OSP/telecom projects in the Chicago area. You will oversee trenching, conduit installation, splicing, and aerial placement, ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety regs.

You will conduct site visits, manage schedules and budgets, perform QA on fiber optic infrastructure, and coordinate with vendors and permitting agencies to keep projects on track and meet milestones.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in OSP, FTTH, FTTB, FTTP construction management, preferably in the telecommunications industry.
  • Strong knowledge of fiber optic network infrastructure design, construction, and deployment methodologies.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale construction projects from initiation to completion.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in project management tools and software applications for scheduling, budgeting, and reporting.
  • Familiarity with relevant regulations, standards, and best practices governing OSP construction and telecommunications infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate records of project activities, including construction schedules, progress reports, change orders, and as-built documentation.
  • Collaborate with external vendors, contractors, and permitting agencies to facilitate project planning and execution.
  • Prepare regular status reports and presentations for stakeholders to communicate project status, milestones, and key performance indicators.
